At Hemsley Miller, we remain firmly committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion across our team. We value the unique perspectives that a diverse workforce brings and strive to foster a workplace culture where every individual feels respected, supported, and able to thrive, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, disability, faith, or socio-economic background.
To uphold these values, we regularly monitor the diversity profile of our firm by collecting anonymous data from staff members. The most recent survey, conducted in March 2025 using the ICAEW’s recommended Diversity Data Collection Questionnaire, achieved a full participation rate.
This year’s results highlight the following key features of our workforce:
- Gender and Age Diversity: The firm maintains a healthy gender balance across roles, with representation spanning various seniority levels. Staff members are distributed across a broad age spectrum, offering a mix of youthful energy and seasoned experience.
- Ethnicity and Representation: Ethnic diversity within the firm is limited, but this reflects the demographic profile of our local area and the size of our firm. We continue to promote a culture of openness and inclusivity, welcoming talent from all backgrounds.
- Educational Background and Social Mobility: A significant proportion of the team holds university-level qualifications, and most respondents indicated they were the first in their family to attend higher education. Team members come from a mix of educational settings—state non-selective schools, selective/fee-paying schools, and overseas institutions—highlighting a diverse socio-educational background.
- Disability, Caring Responsibilities, and Faith: Respondents include individuals with caring responsibilities and those from varied faith backgrounds. While a minority of the team disclosed disabilities, support is in place for all team members to work in a safe, respectful, and accommodating environment.
These insights help us better understand the composition of our workforce and identify opportunities for further progress in diversity and inclusion. The data will inform our ongoing efforts to improve representation and equity across all levels of the organisation.
